Oklahoma Adds Pittsburgh Transfer QB Davis Beville

Just as Brent Venables promised, the Sooners have added some quarterback depth behind starter Dillon Gabriel.
Oklahoma has picked up Pittsburgh QB Davis Beville through the transfer portal. Beville shared the news on his Twitter page on Monday afternoon.
Beville sat last season behind Kenny Pickett, who ended up being picked in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft. And then in the offseason, the Panthers added USC transfer QB Kedon Slovis, who is their projected starter.
Beville saw playing time the past two seasons at Pitt, played sparingly in a total of nine games the last two seasons. During the 2020 season, he completed 5 of 10 passes for 30 yards total. This season he only recorded stats in three games, however he did throw for a career-high 149 yards with a touchdown during the team’s Peach Bowl loss to Michigan State (Pickett sat out this game to prepare for the NFL Draft).
Beville provides some much-needed depth behind Gabriel, as Oklahoma has seen a lot of turnover this offseason after head coach Lincoln Riley bolted for USC and then quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler also left the program.
Belville was a three-star prospect out of high school, according to 247Sports, when he ranked as the No. 22 pro-style QB in the Class of 2019.
