Oklahoma State Selected as No. 7 Seed in NCAA Softball Tournament

Big 12 Conference

After upsetting the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls were rewarded with the No. 7 overall seed in the NCAA Softball Tournament.

The Cowgirls, 41-12, have wins over several teams in this year’s tournament field, including Oklahoma, Arizona State, Michigan, Northwestern, Texas, Missouri State, Wichita State, and Stanford.

With the seventh overall seed, Oklahoma State will be one of eight teams that will host a Regional and a Super Regional over the next two weekends. In next week’s Regional, the Cowgirls will host Fordham, North Texas, and Nebraska in Stillwater.

The biggest threat for the Pokes in their Regional will be Nebraska (40-14), who just had a similar run through the Big Ten tournament, defeating Michigan to take home their first Big Ten Championship.

This Oklahoma State team is dangerous right now, as it seems they turned a corner sometime in the game against Texas in the Big 12 Championship semifinals. Since that point, the Cowgirls have looked great in the circle, defensively, and at the plate.

The way that this team is playing right now makes me feel very good about picking them to make the WCWS back in February.
