The Texas Longhorns missed out on one of the top players to come into the transfer portal as Pittsburgh wide receiver Jordan Addison has picked the USC Trojans over UT.
Addison made the announcement on Thursday afternoon on social media.
Here was his Twitter post.
Reports surfaced on Monday that Addison was down to Texas and USC, which were always the two likely landing spots for the wide receiver.
Addison is considered one of the best players in college football, as he won the Biletnikoff Award as the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver in 2021. He had 100 catches and 17 touchdowns last season and would immediately become the top target for USC QB, and former Oklahoma signal caller, Caleb Williams.
Addison entering the transfer portal came with controversy as the Pitt coaching staff allegedly believe that there was tampering involved between USC and their star wide receiver.
Since Lincoln Riley became the USC head coach, the Trojans have taken in 16 transfers, including multiple players from the Oklahoma Sooners. There was plenty of discussion and criticism around how Riley went about his business in bringing former OU players on board upon his move to Southern California.
But in the new Wild West of college football recruiting, the transfer portal and NIL, anything goes.
