We are getting very close to the release of college football preseason magazines as we enter the middle of June, and along with those will come all kinds of preseason power rankings.
Sports Illustrated recently released their early summer edition of the Big 12 Power Rankings, and a familiar team sits atop the graphic: Oklahoma.
Despite losing their head coach, top two quarterbacks, and their entire defensive staff along with a host of players who elected for the 2022 NFL Draft, the Sooners are at the top of SI’s list. Here is a look at the entire Power Rankings.
As things currently stand, Oklahoma and Baylor are interchangeable at No. 1 and No. 2. Both schools have talented rosters and look like the best the conference has to offer.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are right where they should be at No. 3, as they have lost a bunch of key pieces and have some question marks on the roster going forward. However, Gundy gets the benefit of the doubt, which is why they are at three.
Perhaps the most surprising ranking on this list for me is Texas Tech. I’m not outlandishly high on the Red Raiders, but nine seems awfully low. If this were my ranking, I would easily have them at six, and ahead of West Virginia, Iowa State, and TCU.
Outside of that, things look pretty good for now but i am certain that will change in the coming weeks as we start to get reports out of summer workouts and eventually fall camp.
