One of the most lucrative NIL deals that we have seen thus far was Texas running back Bijan Robinson signing a deal with a Lamborghini dealership last month. Now, it appears that his quarterback, Quinn Ewers, is getting in on the action.
Being the star quarterback at a place like Texas has had its perks for a long time, but now that NIL, and the money that comes with it, is a major part of college football the perks have been magnified.
On Wednesday, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy shared an Instagram story showing off Ewers’s new Aston Martin, complete with Burnt Orange interior and paddle shifters.
As crazy as it is, Ewers hasn’t even been named the starter yet, as Hudson Card has reportedly made things interesting to this point. In no world do I see anyone but Ewers starting the season as QB1 for Texas, but having this kind of NIL money at 19-years-old is insane. Ewers is a five-star quarterback, but has yet to play a meaningful down of college football, so the kind of money being thrown at him right now befuddles me a bit.
However, with his talent level, and Steve Sarkisian’s offensive prowess, I’m sure his name will be on headlines across the country, making the NIL investment in him a good deal for everyone involved.
