The Iowa State Cyclones have beefed up the offensive line for the 2022 season by adding junior college transfer Oluwafunto Akinshilo.
Akinshilo made his announcement on Twitter on Saturday.
He had previously committed to Boise State in early April, but then decommitted recently, stating that he would “be announcing my future plans shortly.”
Despite being 6’5”, 310 pounds, Akinshilo was under-recruited out of high school at Leuzinger (California). He played one junior college season at El Camino, where he appeared in 11 games, and has seen his stock rapidly increase.
His Power 5 offers included Iowa State, Mississippi State and Indiana, and was in Ames for his official visit on May 23rd.
Akinshilo becomes the third JUCO member of Iowa State’s 2022 class, joining Iowa Western’s Nate Glantz and Blinn College’s Blake Thompson.
