4-Star DL Avion Carter Commits to TCU

After narrowing his list down to TCU, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma State, Avion Carter ultimately has decided to commit to the Horned Frogs.
Carter was seeing major interest from schools such as LSU, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame. The 4-star recruit is currently ranked as the No. 157 overall prospect by 247Sports and No. 26 overall player in Texas.
The 6’4, 240 pound prospect was recruited by defensive line coach JaMarkus McFarland. The commitment comes after Carter’s visit on June 10th.
Avion Carter is a class of 2023 recruit and has had a lot of success in high school. As a sophomore, Carter was named to the Texas District 2-5A-1 First Team at defensive end. In his junior year, Carter recorded 55 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks becoming the Texas District 2-5A-1 Defensive Player of the Year.
There is a connection between TCU and Carter, as the defensive end was high school teammates with TCU 2022 signee Major Everhart and it was rumored that the two wanted to play together in college.
The Horned Frogs currently have the No. 15th ranked overall class in the nation for 2023, and No. 3 in the Big 12.
Carter is the second commitment of the weekend for TCU, as they landed offensive lineman Cooper Powers on Saturday.
