Oklahoma Sooners

Texas is Favored to Win 2022 College World Series

The College World Series is set to begin on Friday, June 17 in Omaha, Nebraska, as there are just eight teams left in the running to crown baseball’s 2022 National Champion.

Two teams from the Big 12 have made the field, as Texas and Oklahoma have navigated their way through the field of 64 to get to college baseball’s holy ground.

While the Longhorns have had more bumps along the way than they expected, they have rounded into form here in the tournament and have looked like the team that everyone expected them to be at the beginning of the season. Behind an offense that is led by Big 12 Player of the Year Ivan Melendez and an emerging Tristan Stevens, this Texas team looks poised to do what they expected to back in February: take home a national title. For that reason, UT is the favorite to win the College World Series at +400 (4/1), according to BetOnline.

The other team from the Big 12, Oklahoma, has been arguably the hottest team in baseball over the last two months, winning every series they’ve been in dating back to April 10th, including the series victory that got them here: an upset of No. 4 Virginia Tech. While they have been on fire, Vegas has the Sooners at +700 (7/1) to take home the hardware, the second-longest odds of any team left in the hunt. No matter, as that is how the Sooners like it. They’ve been underdogs to this point and have done just fine under that mantra.
