Mackenzie Donihoo officially has a new home to further her softball career after the former Oklahoma player announced she would be transferring to Tennessee.
Here’s a look at her post that came on Instagram on Friday.
Donihoo became a household name in Norman last season during Oklahoma’s title run last season, batting an impressive .476 during the Women’s College World Series and recorded a WCWS-best 10-RBIs.
However she had an up-and-down season this year and left the program late in the year.
Donihoo announced on Instagram in mid-May that she was “no longer a part” of the Oklahoma Softball program.
Her announcement comes about a week after Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso said that Donihoo would not return for the Sooners in 2022. “You will not see her again this season,” Gasso said last week. “That’s pretty much all I’ll say about it.”
This season she was batting just .250 before being replaced in the line up.
Donihoo should be able to help a Tennessee team that finished 41-18, good for third in the SEC. The Vols lost in the Regionals to end their 2022 season.
