After the first weekend of action in Omaha, the Oklahoma Sooners are 2-0 and in great shape to put themselves in the College World Series Finals with just one more victory.
They await the winner of Texas A&M and Notre Dame on Wednesday, with one of those teams needing to beat Oklahoma twice to keep Skip Johnson’s squad out of the Championship Series. Because the Sooners have stayed red-hot and are in the best position of anyone to make the finals, they are now the betting favorite to win the 2022 College World Series, according to FanDuel.
The Sooners are currently listed at +160 (8/5) to win the World Series, with Arkansas coming in second at +280 (14/5) after dismantling Stanford 17-2, and Ole Miss at +300 (3/1).
After the top-three, there is a steep drop-off in the odds, as Notre Dame and No. 5 Texas A&M are both listed at +1200 (12/1), projecting a pick’em game as those two square off on Tuesday.
The bottom two teams in the odds are No. 2 Stanford and No. 14 Auburn. The Cardinal are listed at +2000 (20/1) and face the Tigers on Monday to determine who will move out of the loser’s bracket to face the loser of Arkansas and Ole Miss. The Tigers bring up the rear at +3000 (30/1) and will need to take out Stanford in order to stay alive.
