Oklahoma Softball Adds Arizona State Transfer IF Alynah Torres

Last week, Oklahoma added Michigan transfer pitcher Alex Storako, bolstering its already impressive pitching staff and potentially making it the best in the country going into next season.

Now, Patty Gasso and the Sooners have struck again as they have added another top transfer target, this time with Arizona State transfer Alyna Torres.

Torres started 53 games for the Sun Devils in 2022, primarily at the shortstop position. She did damage at the plate this past season, batting .339 with 40 RBIs and 16 home runs, which ranked second on the team.

The junior out of Glendale, Arizona will likely find her way into the lineup for Oklahoma next season, but it won’t be at her usual position. Oklahoma is set at shortstop, with All-American Grace Lyons set to return, but Jana Johns is gone, leaving a void at third base. Torres likely shores up that spot, keeping the Sooner’s infield elite, along with an outfield that returns all three starters.

Now, two of the Sooners biggest roster issues have been addressed and there is still room to add a player or two. If the Sooners add another big bat to this lineup, it could be scary.

Oklahoma looks to be gearing up for a run at a third-straight national title, something that has only been done once before (UCLA 1988-1990). If the Sooners continue to bring in talent at this rate, it will be hard to argue that they could again be the favorite in 2023.
