The Baylor Bears picked up another big commitment on Tuesday as the landed a pledge from three-star defensive lineman DK Kalu.
Kalu, listed at 6-3, 270 pounds, is rated as the No. 71 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2023 and is just outside of being a top-100 player in the state of Texas, coming in at No. 108.
The Missouri City, Texas native is heading into his senior year at Ridge Point High School and was a hot commodity after his sophomore season in 2020 when he record 34 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack at the Texas Class 6A level.
Kalu held offers from Baylor, Georgia Tech, Rice, SMU, TCU, Kansas State, Iowa State, Houston, Louisiana, and TCU among others, but chose to go with the Bears in the end.
“It’s special because my father played in the SWC and he has always spoke very highly of the Bears,” Kalu told 247Sports after receiving his Baylor offer in January of 2021. “I also love how Baylor has dominated football in Texas these past several years.”
The Bears now have 20 commitments in the class of 2023, which is standing strong at No. 11 right now. Dave Aranda and his recruiting staff are proving that the success in Waco is far from over.
