Three-Star OT Johnny Williams IV Commits to West Virginia

NCAA Football: Kansas State at West Virginia

West Virginia continued to pick up steam on the recruiting trail on Tuesday as they added a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Johnny Williams IV.

Williams, listed at 6-7, 315 pounds, is heading into his senior year at Northeast High School in Macon, Georgia and had several offers on the table but chose the Mountaineers over Miami, Georgia, Florida State, Arizona State, NC State, Oregon, and Louisville among others.

Listed as a three-star by 247Sports, Williams is the No. 45 offensive tackle in the 2023 class and the No. 51 player in the state of Georgia.

WVU extended their offer to Williams over a year ago when he was just a sophomore. Since that time Williams has taken several unofficial visits around the country, but West Virginia was the first official visit, which was on June 23.

With Williams’ commitment, the Mountaineers now have 17 commits for the class of 2023, a class that now ranks 15th nationally and fourth in the Big 12 behind Texas (3), Texas Tech (8), and Baylor (11).

West Virginia is finishing strong at the recruiting dead period and people around Morgantown have to feel good about the current direction of the program.
