NCAA Football: Big 12 Championship-Baylor vs Oklahoma

Oklahoma saw some fireworks on the recruiting trail on the Fourth of July as the Sooners added a big commitment from 2023 linebacker Phil Picciotti.

The four-star talent out of Perkasie (PA) Pennridge Upper has prototype size out of high school, listed at 6-3, 225 pounds.

Picciotti had 23 Division-I offers on the table and took official visits to Oklahoma, Auburn, Nebraska, and Michigan but landed with the Sooners when he committed on Monday night.

Picciotti is ranked as the No. 11 linebacker in the 2023 class and is the No. 6 overall player in the state of Pennsylvania, according to Rivals.

In his junior season in 2021, Picciotti was the centerpiece of Pennridge’s defense, racking up a team-high 144 tackles with 19 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a sack. He also played running back, tallying 250 yards and four touchdowns on 42 carries.

Brent Venables and his staff and extremely excited to have Picciotti on board and it appears that the Sooners hopes of having a great month of recruiting in July are off to a fantastic start with many more key offers set to commit in the coming days. Hold on tight Sooner Nation, there might just be more good news on the way.
