Elite 2023 Four-Star WR Jaquaize Pettaway Picks Oklahoma Over Texas

Oklahoma recruiting continues to rise in the the month of July as the Sooners picked up a big commitment from 2023 four-star wideout Jaquaize Pettaway.
Pettaway, a senior at Langham Creek High School in Houston, Texas, is ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver in the 2023 class and could very well end up earning five-star status when all is said and done.
The talented wide receiver holds offers from 28 programs, but narrowed his choices down to two with the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns. Pettaway chose the Sooners over the Longhorns, as well as offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC among many others.
Pettaway is listed a 5-11, 170 pounds, but the real danger is in his speed. According to Cooper Petagna of 247Sports, Pettaway is a field stretcher and someone who can make an impact on day one with his elite quickness and acceleration. As a junior Pettaway posted three sub-10.50 100-meter times, including 10.41, 10.43, and 10.47.
Pettaway’s commitment gives the Sooners 11 pledges for the class of 2023, and brings them into the Top 25 recruiting rankings for 247Sports.
Oklahoma is expected to “catch fire” in recruiting this month, with several four-star targets set to commit in the coming weeks and the Sooners are a favorite or major player to land many of them.
