Oklahoma Lands 2023 Four-Star RB Daylan Smothers

Oklahoma kept its impressive recruiting month going on Thursday as the Sooners have landed a commitment from 2023 running back Daylan Smothers.
Smothers, a four-star recruit out of West Charlotte, North Carolina, is listed as the No. 9 running back in the 2023 class and received a 0.9182 composite score from 247Sports. The talented back is set to have a huge senior year at West Charlotte before heading to Norman next year.
Smothers is listed at 5-11, 182 pounds, and possesses true breakaway speed at the running back position, leading him to be a hot commodity in the class of 2023. He holds offers from 32 Division-I programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Miami but eventually narrowed his list down to four programs: Oklahoma, Florida State, Penn State, and NC State.
Smothers eventually chose Demarco Murray and the Sooners, bringing Oklahoma’s commitment total to 15. The class remains right on the cusp of breaking into the Top 10 with the No. 11 class in the country for 2023. Smothers is the second running back to join the Sooners’ class alongside Denton Ryan four-star RB Kalib Hicks. The duo is a solid haul for Demarco Murray, who has proven to be one of the best recruiters at his position nationally.
