Former K-State Commit Dylan Edwards Heading to Notre Dame

After decommitting from the Wildcats last Friday, Dylan Edwards has a new home in South Bend. The Derby, Kansas running back recently became a four-star recruit, gaining more exposure to big-time schools.
Edwards was the 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year in Kansas, putting up 3,214 all-purpose yards and 40 total touchdowns. Edwards took a visit to Notre Dame on July 28th, where he received a scholarship offer from the Fighting Irish. It didn’t take long for the coveted recruit to make his decision on where he would be playing his collegiate career.
Here’s his announcement on Twitter from Saturday afternoon.
Edwards was recruited by Deland McCullough and Tommy Rees for the Fighting Irish. The decision to commit to Notre Dame is one that breaks the hearts of many Kansas State faithful who had high hopes to see Edwards in purple given his legacy ties, as his father, Leon Edwards, played at K-State from 1992-94. The Kansas State staff spent a lot of time recruiting the four-star running back and, up until last week, thought they had done enough to have Edwards in Manhattan.
Edwards is the second running back commit for the Notre Dame class of 2023, alongside four-star Jayden Limar. Notre Dame’s recruiting class currently sits at number one for 2023, with one five-star, 19 four-stars, and three three-stars. First-year head coach Marcus Freeman has seemed to hit the ground running on the recruiting trail for the Fighting Irish.
