4-Star Athlete Jacobe Johnson Commits to Oklahoma

On Saturday, the Sooners gained their 20th commitment in the class of 2023 from the second ranked player out of Oklahoma, Jacobe Johnson.

Johnson is from Mustang, Oklahoma and is listed at 6’3, 183 pounds, who is ranked as the 87th recruit in the country. The four-star athlete is expected to play cornerback for the Sooners. Johnson took his official visit to Oklahoma back on June 3rd. He also held offers from Alabama, Michigan, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and Stanford, before choosing to stay in-state and play in Norman. Johnson is the second Oklahoma prospect to commit to the Sooners, joining fellow in-state recruit Erik McCarty.

The Mustang, Oklahoma native has been a longtime target of the Sooners. With the commitment of Johnson, Oklahoma now holds the seventh ranked recruiting class in the country. Since June, Oklahoma has gained 16 commitments to the class of 2023.

Oklahoma is still after some highly-rated recruits. They await decisions from four-star safety Makari Vickers, who is set to make his announcement between Oklahoma, Alabama, and Michigan on August 26th, and four-star defensive lineman Jordan Renaud, who is set to choose between Oklahoma and Clemson on September 19th.
