Kansas State has finally filled their 13 scholarships with the commitment of Tallahassee Community College forward Anthony Thomas. Jerome Tang and his staff were left with just two players on scholarship after former head coach Bruce Weber resigned. The two players that remained on scholarship for the Wildcats through the coaching change were guard Markquis Nowell and forward Ismael Massoud.
Thomas played in 22 games at UT Martin in 2020-2021, averaging nine points on 37.7% shooting and 2.8 rebounds per game. After transferring to Tallahassee Community College, Thomas averaged 11.0 points on 42.3% shooting and 4.6 rebounds. Thomas has three years of eligibility remaining and will look to make the most of those in purple.
The news of Thomas’s commitment comes just a day after Florida transfer Keyontae Johnson had announced his decision to attend to Kansas State.
The way Tang has turned the Wildcats from a bottom-feeder in the Big 12 to a competitive team in just one short offseason has been quite the feat. We have yet to see what Tang is capable of as a coach, but he is putting the Big 12 on notice for what he has been able to do on the recruiting trail.
