Former Baylor QB Charlie Brewer Named Liberty Starting QB

Charlie Brewer, who led Baylor to the 2019 Big 12 Championship Game, has been named the starting quarterback for Hugh Freeze and the Liberty Flames in 2022.
Brewer threw for 9,700 yards and 65 touchdowns in his time at Baylor in 39 career starts from 2017-20. In 2021, Brewer transferred to Utah where he started for three games before being usurped by Cameron Rising.
Brewer decided to leave the Utes last September and landed at Liberty, where he feels that his skillset is a better fit in Freeze’s offensive scheme. In the Flames’ up-tempo offense, Brewer will be asked to quick reads and throws in the RPO game, but he will undoubtedly be more comfortable there.
The 6-1, 208 pound quarterback out of Austin, Texas is set to play in his sixth year of college football thanks to a redshirt year that he never used at Baylor, plus the free COVID-19 year that everyone received after the crazy 2020 season.
The former Bears’ quarterback will be tasked with replacing Malik Willis, who ended his collegiate career by being drafted in the third round by the Tennessee Titans.
Brewer and the Flames will kickoff the 2022 season at Southern Miss on Sept. 3 at 6:00 p.m.
