Three Big 12 Teams in Week 2 AP Top 25 College Football Poll

The opening weekend of college football is behind us as we finally got to take a look at the teams that we’ve studied all summer long.
Some teams disappointed, while others flourished, and there was more of the latter in the Big 12 as the conference went 9-1 against favorable opponents in Week 1.
The only loss was West Virginia, who played in a hard-fought Backyard Brawl against the Pitt Panthers, but fell in the end, 38-31.
The first Big 12 team ranked in the Week 2 poll are the Oklahoma Sooners, who in two spots higher this week at No. 7. Oklahoma performed just as they were expected to against UTEP, winning 45-13 in relatively uneventful fashion and in doing so seemingly validated their preseason ranking.
Baylor climbed one spot to No. 9 after defeating Albany 69-10, with Blake Shapen shining in the first half completing 17 of 20 for 214 yards and three total touchdowns. Dave Aranda and the Bears have a much stiffer test this week however, as the No. 21 BYU Cougars are set to host them in a game that is set to kickoff at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday.
The final Big 12 team to be ranked this week is Oklahoma State, who climbed one spot to No. 11 after defeating Central Michigan 58-44 on Thursday. The Pokes’ defense was questionable, but the offense appeared to be back to the form we have grown accustomed to out of Stillwater.
