Watch: Nick Saban Learns that ‘Horns Down’ Gesture is 15-Yard Penalty

The Alabama Crimson Tide are heading to Austin, Texas to take on the Longhorns this weekend and will be doing so under the direction of legendary head coach Nick Saban.
Saban has been at Alabama since 2007 and in that time has led the Tide to six national championships. When it comes to attention to detail, there simply isn’t much that gets by the 70-year-old coach, so when he learned something new this week about his upcoming opponent, it was quite funny to see his reaction.
Through a question posed by a member of the media, Saban learned about the Big 12 officials’ stance on the “Horns Down” gesture and that it is considered a 15-yard penalty. Here is his reaction.
Saban’s reaction looked a lot like the rest of ours when we learned that “Horns Down” would be penalized, mostly because it is an absurd rule. If “Horns Down” is a penalty, shouldn’t “Horns Up” be punishable as well?
Either way, there will inevitably be gestures of all kinds this weekend, as the Tide will roll into Austin as nearly three-touchdown favorites this weekend, with College Gameday and Big Noon Kickoff on site.
