Texas QB Quinn Ewers Will Travel, Suit Up Against Texas Tech

During the first quarter of a nail-biter against Alabama two weeks ago, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers took a hard hit and landed directly on his shoulder.

After a grueling wait, it was announced that Ewers had avoided major injury but would be out for 4-6 weeks for a sternoclavicular (SC) joint sprain. Now, its appears that the Longhorns’ QB is ahead of schedule and could see the field as early as this week if needed.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Thursday the Ewers will travel and suit up for the Longhorns’ game against Texas Tech on Saturday, despite the reports that he would be out until at least the Red River game next month.

This is clearly a huge development for UT as Ewers adds a layer offensively that others just can’t match with his arm talent. The question is, will they rush him back against Tech this weekend or let him rest for a while longer. We will have to wait and see, but the fact that he is suiting up and making the trip to Lubbock is a great sign for his progress.

The Longhorns and Red Raiders are set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, with Texas currently favored by 6.5 points in the contest.
