Hudson Card to Start at QB vs. Texas Tech

The Texas Longhorns won’t be going back to quarterback Quinn Ewers just yet, as Steve Sarkisian announced on Saturday that Hudson Card would get the start as Texas faces Texas Tech in Lubbock.

Sarkisian said earlier in the week that Quinn Ewers would travel to Lubbock and suit up for the Longhorns, creating some conversation as to whether or not he would get the start this week.

Ewers has been out since the first quarter of the Alabama game in Week 2 and it was announced he would be out for 4-6 weeks for a sternoclavicular (SC) joint sprain. So regardless, it seems like Ewers is ahead of schedule.

While Ewers is a former five-star prospect, Hudson Card is no slouch himself and has performed well in place of Ewers. On the season, he’s completing 66% of his passes with one passing touchdown and zero interceptions.

Last week against UTSA was his best game yet, going 15/23 for 161 yards, one touchdown, plus 35 rushing yards in a 41-20 win.

The Longhorns and Red Raiders are set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, with Texas currently favored by 6.5 points in the contest.
