Kansas State and head basketball coach Jerome Tang got some good news on Monday as the Wildcats earned a commitment from 2023 three-star power forward Macaleab Rich.
Rich, listed at 6-7, 225 pounds, chose Kansas State over Missouri, Illinois-Chicago, Ole Miss, Eastern Michigan, Saint Louis, and VCU.
With his commitment, Kansas State’s 2023 class climbs to 26th nationally, according to On3, and fifth in the Big 12. He joins four-star point guard Dai Dai James and four-star shooting guard RJ Jones in Jerome Tang’s first signing class.
Rich currently ranks as the No. 173 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to On3 Consensus, which averages rankings from all recruiting companies.
“I chose Kansas State because I felt the most love I’ve felt in my life when I went on campus,” Rich told On3 of his commitment. “I built a great bond with the coaches and players and it just felt like home. The style of play fits how I play.”
When asked what type of player K-State was getting in Rich, he had this to say.
“A hard-working player that loves to win and hates losing,” he says. “I’ll do whatever I have to do to help the team win.”
