Through Week 5 of the 2022 college football season, there have been quite a few surprises in the Big 12 conference. Kansas’ surge to 5-0 or Oklahoma’s plummet to 3-2 are among the biggest surprises, but perhaps a better way of capturing the depth and unpredictability of the conference this year might be taking a look at the conference title odds.
At the top of the list, and perhaps not that surprisingly, are the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 11/4 odds of winning the conference. Oklahoma State scored a big win over Baylor last week and has put itself in the driver’s seat of the conference for the time being.
The Kansas State Wildcats are second on the odds board at +350 or 7/2 odds to win the Big 12. After losing to Tulane in the nonconference many wrote K-State off, but after a 2-0 start in conference play, the Wildcats are looking like a formidable opponent for the rest of the conference.
Texas and TCU are both closely tagging along with the third- and fourth-best odds with the Longhorns at +425 (17/4) and the Horned Frogs at +450 (9/2). Baylor (+700) and Kansas (+800) are in fifth and sixth respectively, with the last four teams having much longer odds.
Oklahoma comes in at +2500 (25/1), while Texas Tech (+3300), Iowa State (+5000), and West Virginia (+6600) round out the rest of the conference.
