Week 8 of the college football season is in the books and now its on to Week 9. There were four games this week, with Baylor holding off Kansas 35-23 in Waco, Texas Tech crushing West Virginia 48-10 at home, Oklahoma State won a thriller vs. Texas 41-34 in Stillwater and TCU came back to beat K-State 38-28.
The Big 12 has been one of the most unpredictable conferences in America and is as deep as any conference, and that is, once again, displayed in the opening lines for Week 9 of the season from BetOnline.ag.
Week 9 Big 12 Football Opening Lines
Baylor +1.5 at Texas Tech
TCU -6.5 at West Virginia
Oklahoma -1.5 at Iowa State
Oklahoma State at Kansas State (pick ’em)
To have three of these four games opening with spreads of two points or less is a reminder of how wild this league has been this season. There are basically three pick ’em this weekend.
The thing that continues to stand out is the lack of respect for Oklahoma State, which is a continuing trend. Oklahoma State has been favored in only one out of four Big 12 games so far, yet the Cowboys are 3-1 in those games and 4-0 against the spread.
Meantime, Vegas is starting to show more love for Texas Tech, as they are favored against Baylor this weekend, which was mildly surprising. Otherwise, I expect the TCU line to grow in favor of the Horned Frogs, while Oklahoma and Iowa State will be a coin flip come Saturday.
