Baylor beat Texas Tech 45-17 on Saturday night Lubbock, but the final score does not do the game justice. Baylor only held a 24-17 lead entering the fourth quarter, before the Bears scored 21-unanswered points to end the game and seal the huge victory.
And after the game, at least one Baylor player was very unimpressed by the Texas Tech faithful.
Linebacker Matt Jones called out Tech fans, saying, “Just seeing ’em [fans] leaving early, even when they stood a chance… I guess you could call ’em some fake fans.’
Here’s the video.
There’s little love lost between these two fan bases and teams, despite the connections, especially most recently with Joey McGuire coming to Texas Tech from Baylor.
With the victory, the Bears improved to 3-2 in Big 12 play and 5-3 overall, keeping them in the Big 12 Championship hunt heading into the final month of the season, while Texas Tech fell out of the Big 12 race, as they dropped to 2-3 in league play and 4-4 overall.
Texas Tech hits the road to play No. 7 TCU next weekend with an 11:00 a.m kick off, while Baylor travels to Norman to take on the Sooners on ESPN+ at 2:00 p.m.
