Oklahoma Sooners Picks Up Commitment from Kaden Cooper

The Oklahoma Sooners landed a Top 50 recruit for the Class of 2023 when Kaden Cooper announced his commitment to the Sooners on Saturday.

The early-signing period for men’s college basketball started last Wednesday and ends on Wednesday. Cooper’s commitment is non-binding. Oklahoma has not announced that he has signed a letter-of-intent.

However, if Cooper does sign, either in the upcoming days or during the regular signing period in April, he would give the Sooners a pair of Top 100 players for 2023.

The Sooners are coming off a 1-1 week in which they lost their season opener to Sam Houston and then beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Cooper is a 6-foot-5 forward who goes to The Skill Factory Prep School in Georgia, but he’s from Oklahoma. He chose OU over Alabama, Kansas, Gonzaga and LSU.

He’s the No. 41 overall prospect and a four-star player, as rated by 247Sports.com.

Before the signing period, the Sooners had just one commitment — forward Jacolb Cole, who plays at Link Academy in Branson, Mo. He signed earlier this week.

The Sooners, led by second-year coach Porter Moser, is coming off a 2021-22 in which it just missed the NCAA Tournament and accepted a No. 1 seed in the NIT Postseason Tournament. The Sooners were eliminated in the second round in a loss to St. Bonaventure.

Oklahoma’s 2023 recruiting class is below. Players who confirmed as signed are noted below. The list below also includes the Sooners’ season-opening roster.

The early-signing window closes on Nov. 16.
