Baylor Loses to Marquette As Big 12-BIG EAST Battle Begins

The Baylor Bears fell to the Marquette Golden Eagles, 96-70, in the first game of the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle, which continues through Sunday.
The Battle pits each of the Big 12’s teams against each of the BIG EAST’s teams at campus sites.
Baylor, ranked No. 6 in the country, was in trouble right away, as they had problems possessing the ball throughout the first half. Baylor had 20 turnovers for the game, but the swell of turnovers in the first half helped the Golden Eagles to a 51-25 lead at halftime.
From there, Marquette (5-2), which is led by former Texas coach Shaka Smart, cruised to hand the Bears (5-2) their second loss of the season.
LJ Cryer led the Bears with 19 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor and hitting three 3-pointers. Adam Flagler scored 16 points and hit four 3-pointers. Freshman Keyonte George added 12 points. The Bears did outrebound the Golden Eagles, 30-22. But, Marquette shot nearly 60 percent from the field.
