Chris Klieman Expects Malik Knowles, Ekow Boye-Doe to Play in Sugar Bowl

NCAA Football: Liberty Bowl-Navy vs Kansas State

In Kansas State’s massive 31-28 win over No. 3 TCU to capture the 2022 Big 12 Championship, the Wildcats lost two major players to injury at some point in the game.

Both wide receiver Malik Knowles and defensive back Ekow Boye-Doe left the game against the Horned Frogs and didn’t return after their injuries.

However, K-State head coach Chris Klieman had some good news on Sunday regarding their availability against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl in just a few weeks.

During media availability, Klieman said that he expects both Knowles and Boye-Doe to be available against the Tide on December 31.

Getting those two back against Nick Saban and the Tide will be a huge boost for a team that comes into bowl season win all of the momentum in the world. Kansas State opened up on Sunday as a five-point underdog to the Tide, but it would not be surprising to see that line shrink once opt-outs start to pile up. Alabama has several key players expected to opt out in preparation for the 2023 NFL Draft and might have a tall task with K-State coming into SEC country with supreme confidence.

The Sugar Bowl will kickoff at 11:00 CT on Saturday, December 31, and will be aired on ESPN.
