On the same day TCU received its seventh four-star commitment for the Class of 2023, the Horned Frogs landed a former four-star cornerback in the transfer portal in Avery Helm.
Helm made his announcement on Twitter on Friday night.
This season, in a reserve role for the Gators, Helm tallied eight tackles in six games played.
In 2021, Helm contributed 22 tackles, including 17 solo tackles. As a redshirt freshman in 2020, he notched one tackle in the Cotton Bowl versus Oklahoma.
The Missouri City, Texas native will have three years of eligibility available to play two seasons thanks to the 2020 COVID redshirt. As this is his first transfer, Helm will be immediately eligible to play next season for the Horned Frogs.
Helm was a four-star prospect coming out of high school in the 2020 signing class. According to 247Sports, Helm was a Top 50 player in Texas and a Top 25 cornerback in the country.
TCU capped off a 12-1 season that saw them lose the Big 12 Championship Game to Kansas State, but still finish in the Top 4 in the country to reach the College Football Playoff. TCU will take on Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl on December 31st.
