Taiyanna Jackson, Rori Harmon Big 12 Women’s Players of Week
Kansas center Taiyanna Jackson and Texas guard Rori Harmon are the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the eighth week of the 2022-23 season.
Texas Tech freshman Jasmine Shavers is the Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
Jackson had her Big-12 leading eighth double-double, scoring 17 points with 19 rebounds in the Jayhawks’ 80-65 win at Oklahoma State on Saturday. She added two assists, a steal and a block. Jackson is the only player in the Big 12 to have at least 17 points and 19 rebounds in a game this season and has accomplished the feat in back-to-back games. This is Jackson’s first weekly honor from the Conference.
Harmon averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, 11.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games last week. During the Longhorns’ 87-41 win over Kansas State on Saturday, she had 15 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, becoming the first Division I player to record those totals in a game this season. In the 96-53 win over Texas A&M-Commerce, she had 15 points, 10 assists and one turnover and is just the fifth Big 12 player since 2013 to match-or-exceed that stat line. This is her first Player of the Week award.
Shavers averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Raiders last week. It is the second time Shavers has received Freshman of the Week, and the fourth time this season for a Texas Tech player. Bailey Maupin has the other two selections.
