Texas RB Jaydon Blue ‘Locked In’ Despite Transfer Rumors

NCAA Football: Texas at West Virginia

After losing Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson in the backfield for 2023, it appeared on Wednesday that Texas is in line to lose another running back heading into next season.

According to a report from Inside Texas, running back Jaydon Blue was expected to enter the transfer portal.

However, shortly after the report started to gain some traction on social media, Blue tweeted something that seems to contradict the original report.

With conflicting reports and the crazy world of NIL and the portal, it’s difficult to know what exactly will happen in most cases. However, in this case, it looks like the reports might have been premature as Blue looks to stick with the Longhorns at this time.

Blue, a freshman and former four-star prospect out of Houston, Texas, played in nine games for the Longhorns in 2022 but was mainly involved in special teams roles. On the year, he recorded just 15 carries for 33 yards and did not see action in the Valero Alamo Bowl despite Robinson and Roschon Johnson sitting out.

The Longhorns’ backfield appears to be chock-full of young talent as Keilan Robinson and Jonathan Brooks will return along side Blue and two top-shelf backs will arrive in the 2023 signing class with Cedric Baxter Jr.and Tre Wisner heading to Austin.

According to On3, Baxter is rated as the No. 1 overall running back in the class of 2023 and will be enrolling at Texas next week.

Rated as the No. 15 running back in the 2022 class (247Sports), Blue had many offers from some of the nation’s top schools, including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M, and USC among many others, but chose Texas in the end.
