Texas Tech Picks Up Syracuse Transfer DL Steve Linton

NCAA Football: Montana State at Texas Tech

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have picked up a solid piece for their defensive line in Syracuse transfer Steve Linton.

Linton made his announcement on Twitter on Monday night.

Linton is 6-foot-5 and 219 pounds, and has played both defensive end and outside linebacker in four seasons for the Orange. He played in 29 career games with two starts. Linton posted career highs during the 2022 season with 22 tackles, including six tackles for loss, 3 1/2 sacks, four quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries to help Syracuse finish 7-6 on the season.

Linton will have two years of eligibility remaining. He will have a senior season in 2023 and then a COVID year in 2024, if he chooses to use it.

Linton signed with Syracuse as part of the Class of 2019 of Dublin High in Georgia. He picked Syracuse over offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Louisville, Missouri, and several others.
