The Baylor Bears are losing a key piece to the transfer portal in RB Craig “Sqwirl” Williams who was a big factor in Baylor’s rushing attack last season.
Williams is a grad transfer who ran for 557 yards on 5.5 YPC adding four scores on the ground in the 2022 season.
Williams’ two biggest games of the season came against the TCU Horned Frogs in a 29-28 loss and a massive 38-35 win against Oklahoma. The TCU game ended in heartbreak with a 40-yard game-winning kick from Griffin Kell to give the Horned Frogs a win, however, Williams was productive, toting the rock 19 times for 112 against an impressive TCU defense.
The biggest day of Williams’ career came against a shaky Oklahoma Sooner defense in which Williams exploded for 192 yards rushing with two scores averaging 7.7 YPC. Sqwirl Williams carried the ball 25 times in Norman and was the best player on the field when the two teams clashed.
The former four-star recruit enters the transfer portal in hopes of producing for another runningback needy team as a grad transfer. While this is a pretty big loss for the Bears, wherever the “sqwirl” lands it will be an interesting storyline to follow.
