Watch: Iowa State Fans Welcome Back Tyrese Hunter in Brutal Fashion

Tyrese Hunter

Tuesday was a highly-anticipated night of Big 12 basketball action with K-State hosting Kansas and Iowa State welcoming in Texas. It was a pair of Top 25 match ups in the league with several storylines to watch. Arguably the biggest storyline was the return of Tyrese Hunter to Ames, Iowa for the first time since he transferred from the Cyclones to the Longhorns in the offseason.

It was a huge blow for the programs and clearly the Iowa State faithful have not forgotten. As Hunter came on the floor during warm ups on Tuesday night, he got a brutal welcome back from the fans, including some special expletives you can listen to here.

Hunter had a career year with the Cyclones. He broke Iowa State’s freshman record for assists (172) and steals (71), while also rankings fifth in steals and sixth in assists all-time among Big 12 freshmen. His efforts earned him the title of 2021-22 Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Hunter has been inconsistent thus far at Texas. He dropped 29 points earlier this month against Kansas State, but totaled 11 points in the last three games against Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma State.
