The Oklahoma Sooners are coming off a 6-7 campaign in 2022 that left them ranked seventh in the conference after suffering their first losing season since 1998.
Now, the calendar has turned and Brent Venables is looking towards Year 2 with a turnaround on his mind. Although there is plenty of time between now and the beginning of the season, there are several important dates between now and then and the Sooners’ athletic department just announced one.
The Sooners’ 2023 spring football game will be held Saturday, April 22 at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium with the kickoff time and additional information to be named at a later date.
Oklahoma’s roster will totally different than it did in 2022, with nearly 40 newcomers heading in between the 2023 recruiting class and transfer portal additions.
Defensively, Oklahoma will have several players that have never played in Norman starting games next season but guys like Dasan McCullough, Rondell Bothroyd, and Reggie Pearson will instantly make the Sooners’ defense a better unit, which is the main thing that held them back in 2022.
On April 22, we will get to see a glimpse of what Venables and staff are building for the future, and by that time Sooner fans should be hungry for some football yet again with expectations creeping back up as they do every offseason.
