One of the textbook rivalry moments in Big 12 basketball is turning three years old on Saturday. On January 21st of the 2019-20 college basketball season, the 8-9 Kansas State Wildcats traveled to Allen Fieldhouse to take on the No. 3-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
After a dominating performance by Kansas (89-59), players watched the clock running out with just under ten seconds to go. Kansas State guard DaJuan Gordon stole the ball from KU forward Silvio De Sousa and attempted to score a late bucket before time ran out.
De Sousa blocked Gordon’s shot and sent it flying into the first row of fans and with that, chaos ensued. In case you may have forgotten what it all looked like, check out the video below.
This Saturday marks the three-year anniversary of the fight between K-State and KU in what was an ugly incident for both programs, plus the sport at large.
Fast forward three years and the two teams are not meeting up, given that they just played each other on Tuesday night. But on Saturday, Kansas tips off in Lawrence with the 14th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs at 12 PM, while K-State takes on Texas Tech in Bramlage Coliseum at 1 PM.
