Watch: Steph Curry, Kelsey Mitchell Congratulate Taylor Robertson

Taylor Robertson of Oklahoma women's basketball

NBA star Steph Curry and WNBA star Kelsey Mitchell were among the players to congratulate Oklahoma’s Taylor Robertson on her record-breaking Saturday.

Robertson passed former Ohio State guard Kelsey Mitchell to set the NCAA Women’s all-time record for most 3-pointers made in a career. Mitchell previously held the record with 497 career 3-pointers from 2014-18.

Robertson broke the record on Saturday when the Sooners faced the Iowa State Cyclones. She broke it on her first made 3-pointer of the game and ended up with five for the game, giving Robertson 502 career 3-pointers. She’s the first women and just the fourth player, male or female, to reach 500 made 3-pointers.

On Saturday evening, Mitchell recorded a short video and posted it to Twitter congratulating Robertson on passing her.

Mitchell was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft and plays for the Indiana Fever.

Robertson, a 6-foot guard from McPherson, Kan., is in her fifth year of college basketball and lists Curry, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, as her idol. Curry is already the NBA’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers and has won four NBA titles. Curry had a prolific college career, but only made 412 3-pointers.

The Sooners apparently lured Robertson to the team facility under the guise of doing a reaction video for her record, and instead was greeted with a video from Curry extending his congratulations.

Later in the video, Robertson’s teammates, Ana Llanusa and Madi Williams — like Robertson fifth-year players — came in to celebrate with her.

Last season Robertson became the all-time career leader for both Oklahoma and for the Big 12. She took over the OU record with her 377th 3-pointer on Dec. 21, 2021. She then took over the Big 12 lead on Jan. 12, 2022, with her 393rd career 3-pointer. Robertson’s career mark is more than any men’s or women’s Big 12 player.
