Gabby Gregory On Meyers Drysdale Award Top 10 List

Kansas State guard Gabby Gregory is the only Big 12 player on the 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Top 10 list for the award given to the nation’s best shooting guard.
The award list was released on Tuesday. Gregory was not on the original watch list in October.
All three Big 12 players that were on the original watch list in October — Oklahoma’s Taylor Robertson, Baylor Ja’Mee Asberry and Texas’ Sonya Morris — were not in the Top 10.
Gregory transferred to Kansas State from Oklahoma, where she had been a three-year contributor for the Sooners and averaged double figures in scoring in two different seasons.
With the Wildcats, she has taken over as the team’s leading scorer in the wake of season-ending surgery for center Ayoka Lee.
Gregory is averaging 19.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and more than two assists per game. She’s shooting 40 percent from the floor and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line. Gregory is the conference’s second-leading scorer, behind only Iowa State’s Ashley Joens (20.2 points per game).
Kansas State is preparing to host the Cyclones on Wednesday night.
The award is named for Meyers Drysdale, who was the first player, male or female, selected to an All-America Team in four straight college seasons. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates, which can be added to during the season.
Previous winners of the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award are Christyn Williams, UConn (2022), Ashley Owusu, Maryland (2021), Aari McDonald, Arizona (2020), Asia Durr, Louisville (2019) and Victoria Vivians, Mississippi State (2018).
