K-State Pokes Fun at Big 12 Schedule with Movie Clips

The 2023 Big 12 football schedule is officially live, and with it comes some new antics from teams looking to build hype early for each matchup.
The Kansas State Wildcats’ social media team created a “coming soon to home video” style montage using clips from different movies like Dumb and Dumber, The Hangover, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail to hype up matchups with each opponent on the 2023 schedule.
Take a look at the video from K-State’s Twitter account below.
The schedule for the Wildcats starts off with Southern Missouri on September 2nd, Troy on September 9th, then Missouri on September 16th before starting Big 12 play. The Cats then take on UCF, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU, Houston, Texas, Baylor, Kansas, then Iowa State.
The video starts off with a clip from the Angry Birds movie where the red bird is scrambling for an egg. This joke is a play on SEMO’s mascot, Rowdy the Redhawk. Next up is a clip from the 2004 film, you guessed it, Troy, although the Wildcats are hoping to take the role of Brad Pitt in this one. The Missouri Tigers are up next with a clip from the Hangover where a toothless Ed Helms has to avoid triggering Mike Tyson’s Pet Tiger.
The Big 12 conference is up next starting with a clip from one of the duels in Monty Python and the Holy Grail where one of the knights gets torn up in battle which the new-conference member UCF is hoping to avoid. The OSU Cowboys are next on the chopping block with a clip from Toy Story 2 with the high-stepping Sherriff Woody hoping to avenge last year’s blowout against the Wildcats. The Toy Story trend continues when we see Mr. Potato’s head torn up by a pigeon prompting the quote, “Well that’s just great.” This sentiment is one that many Texas Tech fans shared during an up-and-down (and up again) ’22-’23 season.
Next up we see a psychedelic frog playing the bagpipes and singing an Irish folksong, hard to imagine that TCU’s hypnotoad is an avid bagpipe player but I digress. Then we see Ricky Bobby outside his car with a live Cougar inside, the pride of Houston. Following Talladega Nights, the 2005 film, Man of the House features a grumpy Tommy Lee Jones sporting Texas Longhorn gear amidst the Wildcat’s three straight games against Texas opponents.
Rounding out the schedule we see Steve Carrell riding a bear as Brick Tamland from the Anchorman, a clip from Dumb and Dumber discussing a dead bird (perfect pick Wildcat fans), and in their matchup with the Iowa State Cyclones, we take a look at the bridge of death jumping back to Monty Python once again.
Following a textbook use of social media by K-State, the Wildcats like the rest of the Big 12 are thrilled to see their new opponents in the 2023-2024 season.
