Chiefs Sign Former Kansas DE Daniel Wise to Reserve Deal

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that they have signed former Kansas Jayhawks defensive end Daniel Wise to a reserve/future deal.
The Tennessee native played in 11 games for the Washington Commanders last season before spending time as a member of the Chiefs practice squad.
Wise signing a contract with the Chiefs is a full-circle moment after spending four years in Lawrence, less than an hour away from his new home. Wise compiled 152 total tackles and 17 sacks throughout his time as a Jayhawk and now will have the opportunity to join a powerful defensive line group with Chris Jones, Frank Clark, George Karlaftis, and Carlos Dunlap.
Every football fan wants to see members of their collegiate teams play professionally for their local professional team and Jayhawks fans may get to see that opportunity. This is something that Kansas fans haven’t seen since the 2013 season where Bradley McDougald spent time in Kansas City.
Kansas State fans had a similar opportunity with the Chiefs as LB Elijah Lee spent time in KC this season and wide receiver Byron Pringle was a key playmaker for the Chiefs from 2019-2021.
