Three Big 12 Players on Naismith Midseason Women’s Watch List
Ashley Joens, Rori Harmon and Madi Williams are the three Big 12 players on the 2023 Naismith Women’s Player of the Year Midseason Watch List released on Tuesday.
Joens was the only Big 12 Conference player on the John R. Wooden Women’s Late Season Top 20 watch list, released last week. She and Williams also on the Top 10 list for the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year award, which Joens has claimed for two straight seasons.
Joens is already the all-time leading scorer and rebounder in the history of the program. She was the Big 12 Player of the Week last week.
Joens is averaging 20.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Harmon was the Most Outstanding Player of last year’s Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. Despite injuries that have cost her a few games, she is averaging 11.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. Her assist average is fifth in the country.
Williams is in her super-senior season, like Joens. Williams is a returning All-Big 12 First Team performer who has helped Oklahoma earn a Top 25 ranking this season. She leads the Sooners with 16.6 points per game and is second on the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.
The winner of the award will be announced later this season.
