Adam Flagler is Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Baylor guard Adam Flagler was named the Big 12 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the 14th week of the 2022-23 season.
Oklahoma State guard John-Michael Wright was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
Flagler won his second Big 12 weekly honor of the season and the third of his career. Wright won a Big 12 weekly award for the first time.
Flagler averaged 24 points in a pair of wins against Oklahoma and TCU. He came up huge against the Frogs with 28 points, his most since he scored 29 in an overtime road win at Oklahoma State last season. Flagler scored 16 points in a four-minute span at one point.
The TCU game marked the first time a BU player had 20 second-half points since Flagler did it against North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
Flagler had 20 points against Oklahoma, his sixth 20+ point outing of the season while also leading the team with four assists.
Wright grabbed the rebound and made the game-winning shot in the final second to help Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech, 71-68, last week. Wright then scored 19 points in the Cowboys’ road win at Iowa State, which was Iowa State’s first home loss of the season. Wright averaged 13.5 points and 4.0 rebounds last week.
