Three Must-Watch Big 12 Basketball Games for Week of Feb. 13

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Kansas

The next week of the 2022-23 Big 12 men’s basketball season is here. Here, we highlight the three games we believe will be the best for the week of Feb. 13-Feb. 19

Kansas at Oklahoma State, Tuesday, 8 p.m., ESPN

The first time these teams played, which was in the Big 12 opener up in Lawrence on New Year’s Eve, the Cowboys blew an opportunity to steal one at Allen Fieldhouse. After a sub-par start, the Cowboys are the hottest team in the conference. They’ve won their last five games, and seven of their last eight games. Players are stepping up with guard Avery Anderson III out of the lineup, most notably Bryce Thompson and Caleb Asberry.

Kansas has won four of its last five games since its three-game losing streak. Expect forward Jalen Wilson to have a big game. Three of Kansas’ four league losses have come on the road. Oklahoma State has lost one league game at home, and GIA will be rocking.

TCU at Iowa State, Wednesday, 8 p.m., ESPNU

The Horned Frogs are now in danger of falling into the Wednesday night games of the Big 12 Tournament and they can’t afford to wait for guard Mike Miles Jr. and forward Eddie Lampkin to return from injury. Damion Baugh and company have to find a way to snap this three-game losing streak. Iowa State is coming off its first home loss of the season at the hands of Oklahoma State. The chatter afterward was that ISU didn’t play to its identity. Count on guards Jaren Holmes, Gabe Kalscheur, and Caleb Grill to get back to basics.

Baylor at Kansas, 3 p.m., ESPN

Look, Kansas is on here twice but it’s a big week and Baylor at Allen Fieldhouse could be a really big game, depending on how things fall. Entering the week Kansas and Baylor are tied for second in the league. If both win the mid-week game, then Saturday’s game is for sole possession of second place — or even a share of first place, depending upon what happens with Texas. With four games remaining after Saturday, that’s a big deal.

Gradey Dick seems to play better at home, and Baylor’s three-headed perimeter monster of Adam Flagler, Keyonte George, and LJ Cryer are clicking at the right time. There’s a reason why ESPN College Gameday is going to be there.
