Three Must-Watch Big 12 Men’s Basketball Games for Week of Feb. 20

The next week of the 2022-23 Big 12 men’s basketball season is here. Here, we highlight the three games we believe will be the best for the week of Feb. 20-Feb. 26.

Kansas at TCU, 8 p.m. Monday, ESPN

This games takes on added significance now. The Jayhawks, after beating Baylor at home behind Jalen Wilson and DaJuan Harris Jr., are now in a first-place tie with Texas at the top of the Big12. The Jayhawks get another shot at Texas in the season finale in Austin.

TCU enters the game newly fired-up after the return of guard Mike Miles Jr. and scoring 100 points on Oklahoma State, one of the nation’s elite defenses.

The game is in Fort Worth. I’ve been to Kansas-TCU games in Fort Worth. This atmosphere will be unlike anything TCU fans have seen before. TCU still has work to do in order to avoid the first day of the Big 12 Tournament.

Oklahoma State at West Virginia, 6 p.m., Monday, ESPN2; Texas Tech at Oklahoma, 8 p.m. Tuesday, ESPN2

Two meaningful bubble games on consecutive nights. Oklahoma State goes to Morgantown after giving up 100 to TCU and finds itself back on the Bracketology bubble. The Cowboys are going to need more offense from Kalib Boone and others.

The Mountaineers should be hard to deal with at home, but Erik Stevenson and his teammates are coming off losing to Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Red Raiders, led by Kevin Obanor and the resurgent Fardaws Aimaq, head to Oklahoma to face Grant Sherfield at the Sooners.

Texas Tech is now back to being considered for the Bracketology bubble. Oklahoma isn’t. The Sooners need this one more than the Red Raiders, but only by a little bit.

Texas at Baylor, 1 p.m., TV TBA

This is the one game on Saturday between Top 25 teams and the Bears could be riding a two-game losing streak if they fall to Kansas State on Tuesday. The talented guards — Adam Flagler, LJ Cryer and Keyonte George — make this team go. But when they’re misfiring bad things happen.

Texas must withstand Iowa State at home earlier in the week before heading to Baylor. The Longhorns, led by Marcus Carr, already have a win in hand over the Bears. But with tiebreakers abound coming down to the wire, a sweep would be most helpful to Texas.
