Oklahoma State’s Kiley Naomi Named D1Softball Player of the Week

Oklahoma State shortstop Kiley Naomi exploded at the plate with four home runs, including a grand slam, and 12 RBI, along with seven runs scored, and she’s garnered national recognition because of it. D1Softball named Naomi its Player of the Week Tuesday for her outstanding weekend in the Cowgirls’ perfect showing in the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational.

“Leaving the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational with a .583 average is a pretty darn good weekend,” wrote the organization. “Naomi led the Cowgirls to a 5-0 weekend with 12 RBI, four home runs–including a grand slam against Louisiana–and drew five walks. Naomi is a key component in the Cowgirls’ offense, which struggled opening week in Puerto Vallarta.”

As that would all suggest, Naomi and the Cowgirls offense did not struggle this time around. In fact, they run-ruled four of their five opponents and scored double-digit runs in their other victory. They racked up 55 runs in the five games on the weekend.

Naomi, on her own, accounted for 20 total bases while slugging at an incredible 1.667 clip. She also starred in the field with three putouts, 12 assists and zero errors, compiling an unblemished 1.000 fielding percentage in five games started.

Naomi and Oklahoma State return to action this weekend when they take on New Mexico, Nebraska, CSU Bakersfield and New Mexico State in the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, N.M. They’ll arrive there with the nation’s No. 3 ranking, where they started in the preseason, up two spots just a week after dropping a couple spots.
