Social Media is Destroying Nate Oats Over New Alabama Basketball Murder Allegations

Last month, former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles was arrested for murder after he and 20-year-old Michael Lynn Davis allegedly opened fire at a vehicle in an area near Alabama’s campus known as “The Strip,” killing 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris.

This week, during a law enforcement testimony surrounding the case, a bombshell of information came out concerning another player on Alabama’s basketball roster: freshman phenom Brandon Miller.

According to Tuesday’s law enforcement testimony, Miller brought the gun used that night in Tuscaloosa leading to capital murder charges for his now-former teammate. He even went as far as to tell Miles when the weapon had arrived and that it was loaded.

However, despite his involvement in the crime, there haven’t been any charges pressed against Miller, and he also hasn’t faced any punishment from basketball coach Nick Oats. In fact, Oats defended Miller on the subject, saying he was “not in any trouble.”

“We knew about that. Can’t control everything everybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen. College kids are out, Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time,” Oats said.

Naturally, there has been major backlash on social media regarding Miller’s involvement in this case and his head coach’s defense of the behavior.
