Iowa State’s Will McDonald Cracks Top 10 in Mel Kiper Mock Draft

NCAA Football: Texas at Iowa State

Iowa State Cyclone Will McDonald had been flying up draft boards this season and with the NFL Combine officially starting, McDonald’s stock looks to only rise from here.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper released his newest NFL first-round mock draft in which saw McDonald, and four other Big 12 conference members selected including Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson, Oklahoma’s Anton Harrison, TCU’s Quentin Johnston, and Texas’ Bijan Robinson.

McDonald was not only selected in the first round, he was chosen with the eighth overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons to help improve their pass rush. Next up is the pass rusher from Texas Tech Tyree Wilson. Wilson is taken off the board by the Houston Texans in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

After the pair of pass rushers are selected, the New York Jets select Oklahoma T Anton Harrison with the 13th pick to protect whoever suits up at the quarterback position in New York. As wide receivers start to fly off the board, TCU’s Quentin Johnston gets snagged by the New York Giants with the 25th pick, before the Buffalo Bills select the last player from the Big 12 conference in running back Bijan Robinson with the 27th pick.

The NFL Draft is something that many players wait their entire lives to hear their name called, and while these positions are just educated guesses, seeing so many players from the Big 12 selected is a great sign.
